    18th Annual OZFest 2006
    Dorothy’s House/Land of Oz

    On October 13-15, 2006, Dorothy’s House/Land of Oz, located at 567 Cedar, Liberal, Kansas will once again welcome the Munchkins to the official home of Dorothy for the 18th annual celebration of OZFest, in honor of The Wizard of Oz.

    Special events are being planned for Friday, October 13th, such as the Red Hat Lady Luncheon with the Munchkins. The Annual Toto Trot Fun Run will be held at Blue Bonnet Park Recreation Center on Saturday, the 14th at 8:00 a.m.

    The annual downtown parade is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 14th and the museum grounds will also open at 9:00 a.m. and come alive at 10:00 a.m when the official celebration starts with a Royal Procession of OZ on the grounds at Dorothy’s House and The Land of OZ.

    Following will be a fun-filled day of look-a-like contests, Brick throwing Contest, Steak Cook-offs, games and more ending with Dinner with the Munchkins that evening. On Sunday the grounds will once again be open for OZ fans and the popular Teddy Bear Tea Party will be held with Glenda, Miss Liberal and Miss Kansas serving tea to the children who will have the opportunity to adopt a teddy bear. And of course the special guests will be available to meet their fans in the Land of OZ both days.

    The museum is currently seeking anyone with Wizard of OZ memorabilia who would like to share them with the museum for the months of September and October as part of our temporary exhibits in honor of this timeless book and movie.

    We can always use more volunteers in preparing for the festivities as well. For more information, please contact the museum regarding needed volunteers and supplies.
