123. Showy white or cream colored flowers with 10 petals. The petals 2-2 3/4 in long, 3/8-3/4 in wide, petals touching or overlappingwhen the flowers are open. Stamens many,1 1/8-2 in. long. Some bracts are partially fused to the capsule wall. July--October
Leaves, rough hairy with widely spaced teeth.
Plant stout, stem usually branched above. Favoring calcareous soil. 12-39 in.
